Kanyimbo Hospital is a private institution providing highest standards of health care thus contributing to a healthier community.
Kanyimbo Hospital adopted a wholesome approach that integrates clinical practice, community and family health services, medical education, health research, and stewardship to prevent, fight, and reduce illness.
The health research unit of the hospital develops research guidelines and performs high quality biomedical research projects on both communicable and noncommunicable diseases. The research projects span from basic research which studies the biology of cells, to clinical and translational research which utilizes the insights from basic studies to develop medical technologies and effective patient care plans. Besides, the research unit trains medical and biomedical students and partners with different national and international organizations to develop data-based policies in health care.
Office of Research and Grants Management (ORGM)
The office of Research and Grants Management supports and implements the research vision of the Hospital, whose findings create knowledge and inform policy formulations which answer to the specific health needs of our communities.
The research team of the ORGM is headed by Dr. Noah Machuki Onchieku, PhD.
Dr. Noah Machuki Onchieku, PhD is a biomedical scientist who studies infectious diseases and mechanisms of drug resistance. Dr. Onchieku is a fellow of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases – National Institutes of Health, USA and holds a PhD in Life Sciences from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB).
BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST
He has established active research collaborations with various national and international researcher groups including the PlasmoGEM Group at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Department of Pathology at the University of Cambridge (UK), University of Strasbourg/Pasteur Institute (France), ICGEB and the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).
Dr. Onchieku has published in high quality peer reviewed journals and has many active research grants.
As the Head of the Office of Research and Grants Management, Dr. Onchieku has brought on board a wealth of scientific knowledge, proposal development skills, research grants administration skills and a rich research network.
